North Shore Animal League America opened its doors to its Friskies Cat Habitat on July 22, 2004. It was designed and constructed by Purina, who consulted with a well-known cat behaviorist, as an alternative to cages. All of the surfaces are covered in cat-friendly materials including sisal-covered scratching surfaces, carpets, foam and hidden nooks for exploring and napping. Here the feline inhabitants are able to roam freely, play, and socialize with the other pussycat residents 24 hours a day.

Located right across the street from our adoption center, the Cat Habitat gives our cats a chance to spread their legs, sharpen their claws and mingle with their peers. It is especially helpful to and appreciated by the cats who have been in our care more than 30 days. In addition, the Cat Habitat also helps adopters by giving them a better view of our cats’ spunky and playful personalities and allowing them to witness them in a home-like setting. And to encourage the adoption of our adult cats, all adoption fees for cats in the Habitat are waived!

Meet the Cats in the Cat Habitat

Lucinds
Name: Lucinda
Adoption #: D45814
Gender: F
Age: Young

Psst....hey you...over here...yeah I’m calling you. I’m the gorgeous dame of a cat in the corner. I’m Lucinda, and I’ve been living in the Animal League’s Cat Habitat since April 2007. Someone abandoned me. I don’t know why they’d give me up, being such a looker, but it’s true. I like to stay here in my corner where it’s quiet. If you take me home with you, I promise I won’t be a bother – in fact, I spend much of my days sleeping under the cozy covers. I’m pretty easy to please - all I need is some grub, a good brushing every now and then, and a place in your heart I could call my home. So come on down, say hello, and take me home.

That’s exactly what you’ll get when you take us home. We love affection, love to play and love to see people smile. So if you could use a little love and laughter in your home, then drop by today and bring us home!

Hey you…yeah you! Over here! I’m Maggie, and I’m looking to come home with you. You see, I used to have a home. I’d spend my days watching The Price is Right, and Jeopardy. I’m a big game show fan. They don’t have a television here, and I’m missing all the questions! So if you think you can fit one more on your couch, give me a call. I can’t wait to be your special friend.

Lobster
Name: Lobster
Adoption #: H191782
Gender: F
Age: Young

Hey there ladies and gents. My name is Lobster and I have a sister named Sardine. We have been living here at the League since May, 2007. We came here because our previous parents were moving and couldn’t take us with them. At first we were really scared, but we can see now that the service here is quite grand. But the two of us can’t wait to have a home of our own to run around, play, and most of all, be loved! We would do best in a home without young children, but other kitty friends would be just fine. Ask to speak to an associate about us. Don’t forget to bring the treats!

If you are interested in adopting Lobster, contact dorits@nsalamerica.org
Note: Lobster must be adopted along with Sardine

Morganite

Good day. They call me Morganite – Morgan for short – and despite the wonderful care I have been given here, I feel it is time for me to expand my queendom to new territories. I’m a sophisticated lady and would like nothing more than to be the ruler of your castle. That is, I would love to receive all your love and attention, all at my beck and call. Ask an associate to meet me. I won’t be too hard to miss, I’m the proper lady seated atop her regal throne. Please do not forget the gifts (treats)!
