Andrew's Update

Hi this is Andrew again! As you know I had to have part of my tail and one of my front legs amputated. I am still learning to get around and keep my balance. My mommy says I hop around like a bunny but she also says that I’m doing really well. I’ve mastered using the litter box and am able to keep my balance while I’m in there! I’ve also learned how to jump up on the bed despite my disabilities. Isn’t that fantastic? Everyone is really proud of how far I’ve come. Sometimes I get a little nervous when I get picked up, but once I’m in the arms of someone who loves me, and I feel safe. I’ve even been known to give out a kiss or two. If I am in pain in the future there’s the option of acupuncture for my lower back. Because I’m doing so well now, my mom is going to watch and see how I do. Thank you to all who helped me through the Help Me Heal program, I never thought I was going to feel this good again.

Andrew's Story

Hi my name is Andrew! I’ve had some serious troubles in my short life and I could really use your help. I came to North Shore Animal League America with severe trauma to my tail and as a result the doctors here thought it would be best to have part of my tail removed. That hasn’t gotten me down though - I’m always ready for a cuddle! In addition to the problems with my tail, I had an infection that would not heal in one of front legs. Having an infection that wouldn’t heal was very dangerous for me. The only thing my doctors, or as I like to call them - my saviors - could do to make me healthy again was amputate one of my front legs. On top of everything else x-rays revealed damage to the bones in my lower back, which makes getting around hard sometimes. I’m learning how to balance though so I can eat, drink and use my litter pan properly. My doctors think in the future medicine or even more surgery will help me out. Even though sometimes I get scared when the doctors are checking me out, I know that I am loved here…and that feels great. It makes me want to purr! Won't you consider donating to ‘Help Me Heal’ so that other animals can be helped like me?
