Bobby

Bobby's Update

Hi, this is Bobby again! Last time I told you about the very serious surgery that I had to repair the hernia in my diaphragm. Well I just wanted you to know that I am doing much better now and I wouldn't be doing so well if it hadn't been for the generous support from people like you! Sadly, I am still living at North Shore Animal League America. It's not that the people aren't nice here, but I what I really want is a family of my own. I've been here a while now and I'm really ready to go home with someone nice. You can read more about me on our 'Adopt a Cat' web page. There is also another rather handsome picture of me, if I do say so myself! Thanks again for your contributions to the Help Me Heal program, it really means a lot!

Bobby's Story

Hi I’m Bobby the cat and I was rescued by North Shore Animal League America from a local municipal shelter. When I got here I was having trouble breathing and when the doctors felt my belly it was very tight and tense. They could tell I was in pain. It was a good thing the League rescued me because I know I would not have received the same kind of attention any place else.

When I arrived at the Medical Center, an ultrasound of my abdomen was performed and x-rays were taken. The doctors soon found the source of my severe respiratory distress. I had a hernia in my diaphragm! A hernia is an opening in the body wall, and in my case my organs were being pushed through that opening. This is serious because the organs can become trapped or strangulated. I was sent very quickly to a specialist who performed surgery on me. For the first 24 hours after the surgery, the doctors weren’t sure if I was going to make it or not, but I’m happy to say I made it through the surgery with no complications! Now I am concentrating on healing so I can go up for adoption and make a new family very happy. I already had my surgery but it was very costly. Won’t you consider donating to Help Me Heal so that others like me can get a second chance at living and finding a forever home to call their very own?
